FAMILY MEMBERS
INTERACTION This 10-session class will help you constructively use your parental power to get the best from your children. You’ll learn how to: teach your child respect for others, communicate so your child listens, help your child learn to behave, reduce family stress, build everyone’s self-esteem, and get the family relationships you want. You can begin any Monday. From 6:00-6:30 pm is an informal time of conversation with the instructor. The formal class is from 6:30-8:00 pm. Instructor Richard Rodriguez is an experienced, credentialed parent educator. This class meets the requirements for parents/guardians who are ordered to take parenting classes.

INTERACTION Where do stress and anger really come from? How do you handle it in your children and yourself so you can achieve the family life you want? In this class, these and other questions will be covered, along with specific strategies for managing them. Participants will learn to: recognize anger and stress points, communicate anger clearly, build self esteem in all family members, stop abusive behavior before it starts, and forgive yourself and others. Instructor Richard Rodriguez is the popular instructor of the Power-Full Parenting class, an experienced counselor, and a credentialed Adult Education Instructor.

Enrollment is limited to 20 students. No matter what age or disability, parents of children with special needs have many serious questions about how best to provide for the child's future well-being. Gain a greater understanding of government benefits. Learn techniques to preserve government benefits eligibility for SSI and Medicaid. Understand legal and financial issues in special needs planning, including special needs trusts. Review legal options when a child with special needs turns age 18 and determine how much money is needed to provide lifetime quality care.

Effective Parenting Techniques A Parent Education course for parents of young children aged 2-5. The class is designed to give practical problem-solving techniques and positive approaches for building better parent-child relationships. The parent will gain knowledge of child development and early childhood education through weekly participation in nursery school (laboratory) classroom. The course will provide opportunities for parents to gain perspectives, and acquire skills of parenting and understanding children. Classes will include: Parent Education Through Parent Child Participation, Family Relationships, Effective Parenting Techniques, Guidance and Discipline, Parent Education, Parent Education/Family Literacy. The programs in parenting involve both parents and children 2 years, 9 months to kindergarten age in activities for art, science and creative imaginings; pre-reading skills of story, music, finger plays, games; pre-math skills of spatial relationships, opposites, discrimination, sorting, and manipulative discovery. All of these activities are conducted in a social environment, which encourages independence, cooperation and caring at all levels.
